Uninstalling XnView breaks file associations (open command)?

Hi guys and Pierre,
On my XP SP2 box, i wanted to install (update) the latest XnView (v2.04), so i uninstalled the existing version 1.9.x IIRC. I was using 'the most used' file assocation template and after uninstalling the old version, all the image extension associations have been DELETED, and haven't been reverted to default (previous) program or haven't been made association-free. They were just destroyed.
E.g: when i double-click jpeg file, i get a 'OK-only' dialog box with red X saying no program is defined for jpg for 'open' command.
Installing the newest XnView have fixed the issue but that's not good. Uninstallation of XnView should de-associate the used extensions, it shouldn't completely delete them!
Hope someone clarifies.
Thanks a lot!
