XnShell: Simple help for simple conversion

Hi
I tried to convert the attached file to 50%. Seems simple, but the quality is very bad. How to get an acceptable quality for 50% size?
(Maybe better to use JPG?)

I tried with all combinations: "Interlaced yes / no", "Compress: 0 / 9" - the only difference seem to be the filesize, the quality is bad (maybe the quality is OK and it looks only bad for me..)

Oh, the quality is bad when you save it? Not in the view?
