XnView skipping randomly around files in folder?

I have a more than one question,
but the most pressing one is that when I am attempting to view pictures and animations in XnView that are all in one folder it seems that XnView, most of the time, randomly picks images to view when I try to scroll through them after opening one. When I look at the folder in Windows Explorer, I expect that I will view the images / animations / whatever in the logical order that the folder has them in, but, instead, I open one gif and when I try to move to the next gif the program skips to some random jpg or png somewhere way off instead of one of the next 20 gifs. Did I mess up some setting somewhere? Is this a known issue? Can it be fixed?
This happens with regular image files as well. Sometimes it views the next image correctly.
My next question is if I could somehow set XnView to not open anything besides images and things like gifs? I discovered that scrolling through my Desktop in XnView, the program would open the .mkv file I have there. Tampering with the settings did not seem to stop that from happening.
Thanks.
