Mac Video Support

Hi,
I've recently bought my first Mac and have installed the latest version, (0.64) of XnView MP and am having problems with playing video.
The files are from my iPod Touch, so .mov format. There is no thumbnail displayed and the videos do not play, but as soon as I select the file, (single click), the audio does play and to stop it I have to use cmd + click on the file in the browser view.
If I go to File, Open, I can play the video, but I still get the audio running separately.
Any ideas for this odd behaviour?
Also, when looking through the forum I noticed that I should be able to acquire from a camera or scanner, but I can't find this anywhere.
Many thanks.
