Windows shortcut to a folder as file argument

Hi.
I have a shortcut to XnView on my desktop that is convinient for dragging folders from within Windows Explorer (and other file/folder browsers as well).
However, If command line argument is a Windows shortcut, I get an error message saying "Error opening the file <nameOfTheShortcutFile>".
It would be far better if XnView could actually starting browsing the folder that the shortcut points to
