Hi,

Is there a way to always show the newest file in a folder?

I've got my digital camera connected to my laptop and it is set to automatically transfer created pics. How can I always show the latest created file?

Thanks in advance
toeb

In Windows 7:

Right click in the folder, then 'Sort by' > 'Date modified' > 'Descending'

For other Windows versions, if right clicking doesn't provide the answer, Google 'show newest file in folder Windows XP (for example) ' .

Googling a question and including the Windows version will very often provide the required information.

Thanks, cday!

Actually, what I'm looking for is a way to show those newly created pics on the fly with XnView.
I'm synchronizing the pics I'm taking using the Canon software and I'd like to show them on my laptop as fast as possible.
Is this possible using XnView?

You wish to open image files in XnView automatically when your camera places them in a folder -- this is in effect another request for a 'watched folder' function, which has been requested a couple of times recently in other contexts.

Pierre hasn't indicated that he intends to add this function in the near future; do you know of any image viewers -- commercial or freeware -- with this capability?

Possibly using a scripting utility such as AutoHotKey???? You could ask on the forum http://www.autohotkey.com/board/ .
