Thumbnails enclosed between 2 black bars

Hi,

I just installed XnView 1.80.1. I experience now a behaviour I didn't encounter with previous releases (at least one year old versions):

The thumbnails are enclosed between 2 black lines/bars along the long side. This is not a big problem when displayed in XnView but these bars also appear in the generated contact sheets. Because of this, the contact sheet images are little smaller than before.

These bars have nothing to do with the shadow nor the border.

I take 2/3 pictures with my camera. It looks like the bars are there to fit my pictures in a 4/3 format.

Is there an option somewhere to get rid of them ?

Thanks for your help,

W.

Ooops, I found where those bars came from:

XnView was using the thumbnails embedded in my pictures. This is a really nice feature (thumbnails are displayed at the speed of light) but unfortunately this is were the black bars came from.

I already tried to disable the feature before but XnView was retrieving the thumbnails from its cache so I first thought the problem was not there.

But it is. After disabling the feature and clearing the cache, I don't get the black bars anymore.

Good to read that you could solve your problem. By default, XnView 1.80.1 uses the thumbnails embedded in JPG files. In some cases, this might cause a bit of confusion. The benefit of the embedded thumbnail is the high performance when browsing.
