[2.22] Double-click thumbnails does not open

The following bug only occurs on one computer. I have tried un-installing / re-installing and it comes back immediately.
In the Directory pane, if I double-click a file or folder, it opens on the Thumbnail pane. This is as expected.
In the Thumbnail pane, if I double click a folder (to open it) then the Thumbnail pane reverts back to the Start-up Folder. It should open the folder!
Pic attached to clarify:
SYSTEM SPECS:
XnView 2.22 en
Windows 8.1 Pro - 64 bit

Yes, all folders that occur in the center THUMBNAIL pane. I've tried it with many directories, local and remote, and I get the same crazy result.
I thought that uninstalling, deleting the .ini file, and and then re-installing would fix it. No luck!
Any ideas?

Yes, a double-click on a file in the thumbnail pane will open it / switch to 'full screen' preview mode.

After I read your analysis / bad news, I did some more testing. The problem does not occur when reviewing a local drive -- only networked computer & folders.
Since I have already uninstalled and re-installed, is there any other registry entries or .ini files I can delete after the uninstall???

I did another uninstall / re-install and there is definitely some XnView data left on my system after the uninstall as i suspected.
I did an uninstall via the Control Panel.
I re-booted the computer.
I re-installed XnView.
The fist time I launched the app, it had my three-pane configuration from the last time it was installed --- not the default.
So, whatever corrupted setting exists, it is not being cleared out during the uninstall process. If you can point me to where there is extra app data on my system -- and how to delete it -- then I may be able to fix this issue.
Thanks,
Dave

SOLVED : change single-click setting
STRATEGY : Since my xNView settings were not being removed upon un-install, I did another clean install on a new computer. I then checked every setting one-by-one. (You may have too many!) The "single-click to expand folder tree" was the culprit. Of course, a double-click when it is expecting single-click input would re-direct the browser to an unexpected location. Of course!
RECOMMENDATION : I must have changed this setting at some point in time. There are two ways to fix this problem (and future similar problems:)
1) Add a feature-button for "restore all defaults' and put it in two locations : Options dialog AND the drop-down menu so it can be found easily.
2) Fix the uninstaller to remove ALL settings. Mine were apparently saved somewhere on the system and persisted after three un-installs. Not good.

Yes, I see where it is. My previous suggestions still stand:
1) The ini file (and all other files) should have been removed during a control panel uninstall.
2) It would be better / more intuitive to have the settings/ini file accessible on the menu.
3) It would be MUCH BETTER to have an easy-to-find 'restore all defaults' on either the options dialog, pull-down menu, or both.
Any thoughts on these suggestions?
