Crash on opening multiple image files?

Everytime I open multiple files e.g. 12 jpg, XnViewMP will load them and then vanish. I'm assuming it has crashed. Any help would be appreciated.

Well, in this test it was 12 jpegs with a total size of 1.2mb. This has been an issue I've had with both XnView and the MP version for a while, if you try to open a lot of files at once it crashes.

Not with large pixel dimensions, which determine the memory required when a file is opened?

About half of them are like 1000x800ish

Not large individually, but a possible memory limit or a bug...

XnViewMP 32-bit or 64-bit?

And crash even when no images already open in viewer?

It is the 64-bit version, it crashes if I don't have XnView open, and then open a group of images up in a single instance of the viewer.

It is the 64-bit version, it crashes if I don't have XnView open, and then open a group of images up in a single instance of the viewer.

Should also add that if I open 12 pictures for example, it will crash, but if I open the same 12 soon after the crash, it appears to function properly. If I then open another set of 12 different images the crashes will begin again with the original 12, caching issue?

A possible bug: the forum upload limit is currently 1MB, if you can produce a crash consistently with images totalling less than that you could possibly upload them in a zip to see if others can reproduce it...

Alternatively, you could send your existing images to Pierre in a zip as an email attachment at the xnview.com contact address and include a link to this thread.

Edit:

Are you using Windows or another operating system?

I'm using Window 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I am unable to replicate the issue anymore at the moment, however, it will come back, if I leave the computer for a while, or reset it the error will most likely return. It's not something I can always replicate. Sometimes it happens 90% of the time, other times it won't happen at all. It doesn't seem to matter what images I use either. I did end up getting some crash dump files from time XnView locked up, would they be useful?

I think so...

If the crash dumps are long it would probably be best to upload them as text file rather than post them between code tags, but you will need to put the text file(s) in a zip (or rar) in order to upload them.

There's about four in there.

It appears that is the case, yes. All the files load up as normal then... *POOF* XnView vanishes. Most of the time there is no error message, it just crashes to desktop. I have occasionally had a Windows error message though, hence these crash dump files.
