Todays I, in search of ACDSee v3 replacement for Linux (Ubuntu 14.04 LTS), I tried the XnView. To me, it looks (I was unable to install the recommended gThumb, because it simply fail to work with Unity (default distro), so...
And I sadly have a bugreport. I would like the Esc = once for all QUIT option to work. And it worked for me the first time I set it, and since them it fail to work anymore. At first, I downloaded the wrong archive ( Linux TGZ 32bit ):
http://www.xnview.com/en/xnviewmp/#downloads
...yet it still worked (no install, lol) ... then I get the correct one ( Linux DEB 32bit ), installed it and it worked well, except for this option, that once worked for me, but after I changed the option of how the cycling of the view thumbnails - fullscreen - view thumbnails screens go. And since this time, it never worked again for me.
Also I wonder, why in the software depository of Ubuntu I cannot find this nice program, because except for a slight error somewhere it does it's job well
Thanks a lot, my friend really need something fairly simple to be able to cut, resize and save his jpegs on Ubuntu Unity system
