How to convert PI2 format file to JPG

I have a whole batch of photos of my kids that saved as .pi2 format. I have tried using XNView to covert them but it error out and say “format of the file cannot be determined”. Do you have any suggestions? I want to get these into .jpg or something else windows can view and modify. I can email one of the pi2 files for you to study. Please help!
