remembering window sizes when switching views (v1.80.1)
Posted: Sat Aug 06, 2005 1:56 pm
Following scenario:
-in the browser (the window only uses about a quarter of the screen) open an image (to an own tab)
-image is big, ("fit to desktop, large only" is active), the window is extended to the screen height and the image scaled according to the window.
-changing back to the browser the window shrinks to the former size and shows the browser.
Bug 1:
-change to the image again by clicking on the image tab -> window size isn't restored to what it was when viewing the image but shows the image with its former size (e.g. 67%) and with scroll bars.
If I don't switch by clicking on the tab but with double click on the image, pressing return or the open icon the image shows as before.
OK, I guess in the latter case the image tab is closed and the image is opened freshly. But it doesn't look consistent from my users point of view. If it was up to me I'd like to get the window in the image view each time as configured (fitted to desktop if large image, and fitted to image if small image) and the window in the browser view as it was before viewing an image in the image view.
Bug 2:
-changing the tab back to the browser then, the preview image has the right size but is the half subwindow to far down, i.e. the upper half of the preview subwindow shows the background color and the lower half of the preview image is out of sight.
Additionally the thumbs in their subwindow aren't wrapped right and extend beyond the right window border (without horizontal scroll bar).
Both effects continue until a window resize (or divider move) but show again after switching to the image view tab and back.
Bug 3:
When having the image view active and closing XnView, next time starting it, the window in the browser view has the size of the window when the application was closed.
Bug 4:
When having the browser tab and an image view tab open with the browser tab active, go to tools->options and click OK. I always get the image view displayed but the browser view tab active.
Those are quite annoying to me in an otherwise excellent application. Maybe it's just me being to sensitive, one or another may be just a matter of taste. Anyways it would be nice to have some feedback on those issues. If you need more details, just ask.
