When I select a category by mistake and then click it again to undo (before applying to files) the category name should disappear from the "applied" list at top so user is not confused to whether its still applied or not.

1. files selected
2. select category
3. unselect same category
4. unselected category remains on "applied" list

this could be improved

what do you means by "applied list"?

Also this should work also when the categories are already assigned to file.

And more:

Clicking on the categories anywhere in the Category Sets pane should toggle the assigned state of that category.

If un-assigning a category in the category sets, it would be nice if the category you were unassigning from file(s) would drop into a bin in the "assigned" list

as it is it changes from bold to unbold, correct?

Maybe it could be scored through. More obvious that it will get removed in a moment when the categories get applied.

But that's a little different from selecting a category by mistake (added to "assigned" but not yet written to files) and then unselecting the category - it needs to disappear from "Assigned".

O.k., thank you, I can also reproduce the problem. Issue 1151 is fixed in next version.

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 0.85 beta 1. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.
