Select outline line colour for crop or copy

Most of the time the line automatically chooses itself to be a good contrast to its background. How do I change it when it is not a good contrast so it is easily visible? See attachment for the problem. Thank you.

This post refers to a selection rectangle that is hardly visible on the image posted: just visible as a feint gray line against the gray background in the image in the previous post.
Downloading the image, opening it in XnView Classic and making a new selection produces exactly the same effect, and I don't know if there is any way to change the colour of the selection rectangle using the settings...
As a possible work-around, opening the image in XnViewMP does produce a selection rectangle that is clearly visible:
The darkened unselected area is normal in XnViewMP.
Another option would be to enhance the original image before making the selection using
Image > Adjust > Levels... or an automated enhancement using one of the
Image > Map options.

Thank you for the suggestions. After 10 years + with Classic, might have to change to MP. Didn't want to change from CP/M to PC-DOS but forced myself. Luckily.
