Whilst using XnViewMP
How to move photos to folders named after the exif shooting date, also the ones in arw (Sony RAW) format?
I might look for 3rd party tools, but first I would like to check here.
Thanks

Imported photos (from camera), both RAW and JPG
All in 1 folder (e.g. Photos)
Various dates
Now they should move to subfolders based on Exifdate, e.g.
\Photos\2014-12-01
\Photos\2014-12-04
\Photos\2014-12-06
etc.

you have "import and sort", but make a backup before to use it

Hi,
this is almost exactly what I am looking for. However it is not configurable to "yyyy-mm"
I have tried "batch rename" with filename = "{EXIF:Date Taken [Y-m]}\{Filename}", but this will not create subfolders
I have tried "batch convert" with filename = "{EXIF:Date Taken [Y-m]}\{Filename}". This will create subfolders but it will not just copy the files unchanged
Is there any way to move the files (unchanged) to a subfolder named /yyyy-mm ?
Thanks

You may wish to try out PhotoMove 2
Regretfully there is no portable version.
Think this should be in XnViewMP though.

OR alternatively, download Advanced Renamer (freeware, portable) and proceed like the below.
- drag and drop source folder into Advanced Renamer
- select [Copy] or [Move]
- select destination folder and -for instance- -- (results in \2015-01-25)
- start

XnView MP offers an "Import and Sort" tool (I didn't know of that one until now). This tool allows for importing (=copying) images from one directory on the local or external drive to another directories. When specifying the target directory you can use placeholders and create a subdirectory structure depending on timestamp of file for example. But from what I can see and was written above you cannot use EXIF:date for creating specific subfolders.
Use menu "Tools > Import and Sort" to open the "Import and sort" dialog.

Sorry, I still can't find it. I select multiple files, right click on them and select "Batch rename..." - but there is no list for subfolder.

In XnView browser use menu "Tools > Import and Sort" to open the "Import and sort" dialog.
In German: Im XnView-Betrachter den Menüpunkt "Werkzeuge > Importieren und Sortieren.." wählen um den "Importieren und Sortieren"-Dialog zu öffnen.
