is there a particular type of ghostscript that has to be installed? I'm havinng no trouble with my desktop running windows 7. thanks

Ghostscript x32 for XnView 'Classic' as it is 32-bit software, x64 for 64-bit programs...

You can install both Ghostscript x32 and x64 if you wish.

Otherwise possibly a Windows 8.1 issue??

Note: XnView 'Classic' doesn't open files with Unicode characters in the filename.

Win 8.1 has built in pdf software. It ususally doesn't work for me. Additional soft is required to avoid errors.
