Can't display certain images

As my topic title implies: XNview neither displays a thumbnail nor displays certain images. These images have common file type exentions: .gif, .jpg, .png
I already tried the suggestion in the error, which was for me to go to: Options > General > Display all image file types. I tried unchecking and checking the option which didn't resolve my problem.
Any ideas on how I can resolve this?
I know that my images are not corrupt since HoneyView is able to display the images that XnView can't. Here's a screenshot of the error the XnView ouput. I'm currently running the latest version of XnView: 2.33 on Windows 8.1
