XnView cannot open the file

Hello,

I have a problem with opening JPG files with XnView. The files are definitely not corrupted or damaged, because MS Office Picture Manager handles them perfectly - and on the other computer they are also working just fine (also with XnView). But on my laptop, when I try to open the file, it pops up a warning - "Error while opening the file". And that's it. I have no clue where's the problem.
(I'm using Windows 8 )

Would be grateful for any help.

cheers
e.

XnView 'Classic' on both computers?

Could you upload a file for someone to examine?

I have the classic XnView 2.34

Sorry, I just checked once more to be sure (I must have mixed it up with other files) - on the other computer we have the same situation - works under MS Office Picture Manager (paint.net, Windows Paint or any other program, including Windows Viewer), but doesn't work in XnView.

example file in the attachment.

EDIT: if I now download the file that I attached, XnView opens it without problems. the original still doesn't work. no clue at all.

Some programs are more tolerant of [presumed] slightly malformed files than other programs...

If you place the original file in a ZIP it should be possible to upload it as it is for someone to examine...

Have you tried activating Ignore read errors (Tools » Options... » Read/Write » General), aamgel?
Could you please upload the sample as 7-Zip/RAR/ZIP archive (to prevent the forum software from messing with it)?

I've just tried with "ignore read errors". Didn't work.

Zip file in attachment.
EDIT: I am still able to open it after downloading and extracting...
The problem must be then in the paths of the files... I did a little test, and if I put the 'corrupted' photo directly on desktop, it works...
Any ideas what's it about?

SOLVED: Polish letters in the pathway. The photos were copied from my mama's computer and they include Polish letters in folder's name. My computer is in German. When I removed Polish letters, everything works. Thanks for help, without this whole uploading thing I wouldn't have figured it out. :)
For the future: do you have any idea how to make XnView read such paths?

I did a bit-by-bit comparison of both files. They're exactly the same :?

XnView “Classic” does not have support for Unicode. Are there any špéçiäl characters in the path of these JPEGs on your laptop?
