tooltip issues.

hi there,

i reccognize that these little tooltips are a way to sticky as they should be. ;-}

in browser mode (inside a folder with a lot of pics, because scrolling is to be tested)

1)
place the cursor over a thumb and a tooltip apears.
now scroll somewhere up/down and see, that tooltip isnt disapearing so you cannot see the new thumb which comes under the tooltip. anoying.

2)
if the mousepointer is placed over a thumb and is not moved for a little time, the tooltip disapears as desired.
if you now scoll up/down a little bit to see some other thumbs, you will reccognize that the tooltip will popup every time a new thumb shows up under the mousepointer. very anoying.

3)
if a tooltip is shown somewhere in the middle of the screen and a move- or copy-dialog (ALT+M or ALT+C) comes up,
the tooltip won't disapear before its time, as it should be. so a part of the dialog is hidden for some time.

question: is there anywhere an option to customize the tooltips (options=>like thumbnail-label) in
time/duration/showed information? or is this (duration?) still a windows[tm] feature?

I can confirm [1] and [3] (not sure to understand [2]).

There is another very annoying issue with tooltips: if they appear near the bottom, they can stay in front when you make the Windows Taskbar appear (-> can't select some application tabs, tooltray can be hidden, etc...) and they stay in front for a while even if you switch to another application by using the taskbar...
(it is difficult to reproduce it systematically as the tooltip sometime disappears before you can reach the taskbar)

just let the mousepointer at its place (where it shows you a nice little tooltip for a thumb),
scroll slowly with the cursor-keys up (or down) some rows.
mostly every new thumb which appears under the mousepointer (which is not moved by you or something else) will pop up a new tooltip.

:) Hello !

- I tested the issue [2] here, there is not any new info-text when I scroll the thumb-nails with the arrow-keys like you say…
- I guess this is a normal behaviour, since scrolling via these keys makes that a thumb-nail is always marked / selected, I suppose this takes precedence on the mouse cursor position / info-text display…
Under Win 98 SE - Fr.
