I scientific research sectors, some device often detected grayscale image more than 8-bit.
My operate equipment detected 14-bit gray-scale images, but the software will promote output to 16-bit , therefore XnViewMP can displays (automatically convert to 8-bit).
Today I get some special images, Windows XP's Photo Viewer can't open them. So I copy them to my PC, and try to convert them to other format by XnViewMP.
But I found ↓
Windows Photo Viewer(Win7 veision)、Paint(Win7 veision)、IrfanView(4.4 64bit)
They can show 12-bit TIFF, but XnViewMP 0.76.1 don't display correctly (Identified as 8-bit)

I've just downloaded the image and tried in XnView v0.84. The image is displayed in XnView MP and looks correct to me. I'd say the bug has been fixed.

In "Properties" dialog, XnView says "# of bits": 8 on tab "Properties". On tab "ExifTool" it says "Bits per Sample": 12.

@Pierre: Is this correct?
