Rearranging multiple selected files doesn't work

In a browser with a thumbnail view, rearranging files by drag & drop works only with one file at a time. When I select 2 or more files and I want to rearrange them the same way, XnViewMP lets me drag them (showing the right mouse cursor and even shows the blue bar indicating the drop location) but once I release the mouse to drop them for rearranging - nothing happens.
Rearranging multiple files at once works well in "FastStone Image Viewer".
