Solved: Search Function: Filename Drop Down Menu

Hi. I've just tried XnView, am exploring its features, and like it a lot. However, one issue I have is that search terms are not remembered; in the search box, the filename drop down menu is always empty:

I can find no way to alter this behaviour via Tools > Options...
Is it possible to set this feature? And if so, how, please? With thanks.

Could you please try deactivating
Purge 'Most Recently Used Files & Directories' on exit in
Tools »
Options... »
Interface »
Interface »
Recent lists?

Thanks, XnTriq, that has solved it. Sort of.
It's odd that a setting ostensibly about behaviour 'on exit' also controls behaviour while the program remains open.
My problem was that search terms had to be re-entered while the program remained open - I actually want them to be deleted when I exit. And if I choose 'Purge now' (when 'Purge ... on exit' is deselected) it has no effect - either while the program remains open, or is closed and re-opened!
So, some confusion over terms in the options, and also over their functionality.

I've done some more testing. It seems as though a restart of XnView is needed for the setting to take effect. Can you confirm this, AdrianK_IT?
- Disable Purge 'Most Recently Used Files & Directories' on exit.
- Restart XnView.
- Perform a search.
- Exit the Search dialog.
- Return to the Search dialog.
BTW: Welcome to the forum (-:

Been using XnView heavily since my last post. Very impressed; does everything I need (with one exception - which I'll search/ask about separately if necessary).
Re the search function, have experimented further with that, and I can get the behaviour I desire. From a starting point of not remembering search terms, I launch XnView, deselect 'Purge ... on exit', search terms are then remembered. However, to clear search terms, I have to select 'Purge ... on exit', and then close and relaunch XnView twice! Bizarre!
The 'Purge now' option seems to have no effect whatsoever.
I'm using the portable apps version (on Windows 7 Home Premium SP1); perhaps that is relevant.
