Problems with saved sessions and window size

I'm running your current update: MP .81, on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
I can save a session on closing, and it does reopen when program opens, whether from clicking a file or not. When I click a file to open another window, the same saved session opens again, with every new window, and I often use multiple. I don't need it opened again if I open another instance of the program, and I'm not ready to close it yet. What to do?

Also, on opening from file, the program doesn't remember the window size and placement. It seems to always default to opening in maximized view, but not full screen. What I would want is for it to remember size and position of last closed window, or better still set my own default initial window size.

Thanks!

You don't want that XnView reopen last opened file (from windows explorer)?

when you quit it, are you in maximize state?
