The problem seems to be that Xnview/Nconvert don't read Alpha Channel from a tube or other Paint Shop Pro image.
If i view this .tub image in Xnview, i obtain a black background too.
In Paint Shop Pro, transparency channel is there.
If i export from inside Paint Shop Pro, the psd outfile has an alpha channel named transparency. Correct too.

Viewing in hexa from inside Xnview find 4 plans in the tube image but seems don't correctly use information of Alpha Channel.

I don't know if this information can help.

Maybe, Psp has a strange way to store transparency information. Psp9 open image (his proper files) correctly with transparency and Gimp too. The needeed information seems to be inside the image but not in a standard manner. It's not the first time that i have such problem with psp files.
