Missing option "browser>view in fullscreen" fro

I think that there is one annoying thing in 1.80.x versions - I almost don't use Viewer mode - I prefer FullScreen and Browser.

When I run XnView from file explorer (clicking on the image file) program runs in fullscreen (that's ok). But if I want to start browse content of a directory and after choosing another image return to fullscreen it's impossible using for example only Enter key. In this case program switches between fullscreen and viewer mode, what is not good.

I miss an option "browser>view in fullscreen" which was present in old 1.74 version.

Best regards to XnView Team :D

Take a look at options/Startup/Switch mode

Hello Pierre, thank You for Your response :)

I've tried many combinations of switching modes, but I couldn't achieve the same behaviour like in 1.74 version :( . In the old version it was possible to browse images and view them in strict fullscreen mode using only the keyboard (Enter and arrow keys). It was very usefull for people who don't like a mouse (like me). Now I can't achieve this using available parameters in options.

Let's imagin scenario:

Options are set like below:
(a) General>Startup>Maximize XnView at Startup : checked (on)
(b) General>Startup>Start Viev in Fullscreen : checked (on)
(c) Browser>Launch Browser at Startup : checked (on)

Step 1. Image is opened from Windows Explorer (by file association). It is shown in Fullscreen mode, according to option (b).

Step 2. Now I want to run a Browser mode by pressing "Enter" to take a look at the other images located in the same directory.
It's possible only when option "General>Switching modes>Use ENTER to switch between" is set to "Browser<>Viewer" or "Browser>Viewer>Fullscreen".

Step 3. Beeing in Browser mode, after choosing another image (using arrow keys) I want to view choosen image in Fullscreen by pressing ENTER again, and... in both cases ("Browser<>Viewer" or "Browser>Viewer>Fullscreen") image is shown in Viewer mode, not in Fullscreen !!!

I thought, that the solution could be setting the option "General>Switching modes>Use ENTER to switch between" to "Browser<>Fullscreen | Viewer<>Fullscreen", but in this case, only "Viewer<>Fullscreen" works.

I think, that the reason is, that when XnView is started by file association (by opening file for example in Windows Explorer) it's always started in Viewer mode, even if option (c) is checked.

I think, if this issue could be fixed (I believe it's possible because it was fine in 1.74 version), XnView would be the best image viewer :D

If you use switch mode Browser <> Viewer, after the startup you can go to the browser with enter key, and after F11 to view other pictures in fullscreen.

Yes, that's the solution, but less ergonomic than in the previous version :(

Why? In the browser, now you can use LMB and MMB on preview and thumbnail/filename to switch between modes and you can choose more alternatives for LMB/MMB/Enter.

To Dreamer: But if you want to use only one method of switching (Enter, LMB or MMB) you can't now switch many times between browser and fullscreen.

To Pierre: Maybe instead of one value for option "General>Switching modes>Use ENTER to switch between" (which is now "Browser<>Fullscreen | Viewer<>Fullscreen"), there should be 2 separate values ("Browser<>Fullscreen" and "Viewer<>Fullscreen"). Or just additional checkbox (like in 1.74) "Always browse in fullscreen mode".

Regards :)

jasiu-zx, could you explain what exactly do you need? You know there are 2 different fullscreen modes, right?

I think I miss feature similar to this one described in ali's post ( RC6: Missing old behaviour - http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?t=2485 )
