An old bugaboo -- XMP Event not written

"Not back on it, Joe. Still on it!" -- from somewhere on They Might Be Giants' album FLOOD.

I used to be SilversleevesX, and I remember making a post (maybe two) on this issue sometime in the past. But now that I'm a dedicated Exiftool (version 10.14 - October 2016) user, it puzzles me that this issue persists. I have an Exiftool .fmt file that probes for the following items:

Code: Select all

-Category -Credit -Source -CaptionWriter -TransmissionReference -Event -Title -Location
--all of them in the XMP block. Exiftool on the command line (bash 4.3.42(1)-release; LinuxMint 18 Sarah KDE 5.5.1) consistently comes up with its "field not defined" error on Event and Event alone, when I write the JobID data in XnView MP (Version 0.83 x32) with IIM & XMP update/create clicked on in Settings.

Any thoughts on why this should still be an issue, I welcome them.

Dominius (lately SilversleevesX)

If you add JobID in IPTC-XMP dialog on a file, exiftool warning you with a "field not defined", right?

Spot on.

I even started a thread on the Exiftool forum, noting how you had ET integrated into MP (with regard to a different issue, though; Microsoft Photo ratings).
