0.83: Not caching (remembering/autocompleting) tag info

That's "MP 0.83 not caching (remembering/autocompleting) tag info since cache was purged."
I've checked all the settings. It looks like this install ought to be caching the tag information to auto-complete it when I type a few letters the app finds "familiar". But after several quits and restarts it still plays dumb.
How do I get the auto-completion back? is my question. Reinstall?

Hello:
You might check to see if any settings are set to "Clear history on exit"
I know 1 is under "settings>>interface"
Might be another 1 hidden somewhere i'm missing. You might also have to try a new .ini file.

Hi,
Where do you want to use auto-completion ?
If it's when using edit iptc/xmp window, history is in iptc.ini file.
You can edit "history" for each field of this window (click the right arrows), and paste new entries for auto completion...

I just read my xnview.ini file. The line for History reads
And this is with a single instance of XnView running Was that bad? I'll quit the app and re-open the ini file to see if anything changes.

Edit: Quit the single instance of the app. The ini file updated; no change on the aforementioned "History" line, however. There were Recent Files noted in the File menu when it was running. (Those are still listed in the ini file.)

xnview.ini and iptc.ini are updated by xnviewmp, sometimes the whole directory is write protected by windows ? (or other o.s.)
There are many "history" entries in xnview.ini ... the most known remebers directories that were displayed by xnview. , but the problem you are talking about is auto completion...
IPTC/XMP windows learns words you entered, and stores them in iptc.ini ...
