OS: Windows XP - 32 bit

When copying and pasting a folder in the file list using Ctrl+X and Ctrl+P the folder is pasted as subfolder of itself.

Effect: Unexpected behaviour

To reproduce:
1. In the file list of the XnView browser, select a folder
2. Press Ctrl+X to copy the folder and its contents to the clipboard
3. Press Ctrl+V to paste the clipboard.
Actual behaviour (bug): The clipboard (folder) is pasted into the currently selected folder as a subfolder.

Expected behaviour: The clipboard should be pasted into the folder currently browsed in XnView.

It's not like that in XnView Classic, but it was a feature (copied files/folder pasted in selected folder) added some time ago

If you Copy/Cut a folder you should paste a folder and not only its content.

It's a special case which works fine in XnView Classic (apart from a missing updated of the file list).

Looks like the other poster had no idea.
Try it out in Windows Explorer (Windows XP, 7, 8, 10) or XnView Classic and you'll see: Whenever pasting a folder and its contents on a folder in the file list, the contents must be pasted in the folder currently browsed (not pasted in the currently selected folder in file list).

I'm not really seeing the problem here.
When you make the copy, that folder still has focus because you haven't changed focus Yet. If you click anywhere outside, then the copy is made outside as "Copy of"
So to change this, you would have to tell Xnview to Copy + loose/change focus of the selected item.

Mouse users - It shouldn't be a problem.
Keyboard users - Might have issue, but how do they paste back inside that same folder, if wanted

I've just tried on Windows 7 Prof. 64 bit: Folders are pasted on the same level, not inside the currently selected folder. Did you copy and paste in the file list?

The problem is that XnView is an image viewer, organizer, and to some extent a file manager. This file manager looks very much like Windows Explorer, therefore Windows users may expect the same behaviour like Explorer.

Folder Tree - Left side
or
File Browser - Big window

I tried inside the browser window on Win 7x64 view = details.
1.Select folder
2. Press Ctrl+X
3. Press Ctrl+V
4. Get error
Maybe this depends on veiw =

Enter and then Ctrl+V should to the job.

Enter would no longer enter the folder because you have lost focus.

You might be able do this if you switch focus to the tree or something.

I mean the file list which by default is on the right side of the XnView browser. The file list displays both subfolders and images of the current folder.

(There is a seperate topic for Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V in folder tree which currently does not work properly at all.)

O.k., Issue 1150 is fixed in next version. i add pasteIntoSubfolder setting to have previous behavior.

Good. Perhaps a better naming for the setting could be "CopyIntoSubfolder" or "PasteIntoSubfolder".

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 0.85 beta 1. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.

Copy & Paste works fine, now. Thank you, Pierre, for fixing this.
