When creating a contact sheets and directly switching to "Preview" tab, the preview is empty.

Effect: Irritating user interface.

To reproduce:
1. In XnView browser select multiple image files.
2. Select Create » Contact sheet
3. In dialog "Create contact sheet" select "Preview" tab. (Don't change any values beforehand).
Actual behaviour (bug): Preview tab is displayed. The preview is empty.

Expected behaviour: Preview tab is displayed. The preview shows a preview of the contact sheet.

Mmmm, I was going to report almost the same, but now that you already reported the empty preview situation...

In my XnViewMP test VM (Windows 7, x64) with fresh download, no settings applied at all, just defaults, I cannot reproduce that.
I select a few thumbs, change no settings at al, and get a filled preview.

But:

When selecting cm or mm as unit and then press Create, the small Create contact window that appears stays open longer, and no contact sheet is created.
Also the Preview will be empty (black).
Only units pixels and inches will create Preview and Contact sheet.

the preview is always black??

If you ask me (Han): only when units cm or mm is choosen.
Fresh download, no personal modified settings applied.

The initial problem that I experienced and reported was due to a missing refresh but I can no longer reproduce it.

Right, when starting with default settings and switching from pixels to "cm" and then switching to "Preview" tab the preview is generated but empty (black). The generated of the contact sheet takes several seconds (whicht might part of the bug).

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 0.85 beta 3. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.

Fixed in 0.85 beta 3.
If mm or cm is choosen as unit, preview and sheet now contain the choosen thumbs.
And pixels and inches also still work
