0.85b4: Option to disable custom order

If you drag and drop any file in the File List, XnView MP creates a custom order which is fine or not depending on what the user expects or it's doing.

Problems when you do not actually want any kind of custom order:
  • An auxiliary file .XnViewSort is created which can "dirty" your pretty collection of images.
  • I don't usually care about Custom orders. I do not use them, period. But I drag and drop files in order to move/copy files quite frequently. The problem here is that if you abort the drag and drop action (by just dropping the file on the file list, even if you do in its very same original place), XnView MP always creates a Custom order (and its associated "dirty" file). (And please remember this issue).
I would really LOVE a toggle in Settings (or better: in the File List icon bar) to actually kill/re-activate this Custom Order function.

+1 (A function to clear custom order in the current directory plus a setting "Use custom order by Drag&Drop" to fully disable custom order would be ideal).

Has this option ever been implemented?
I'd prefer not to find those ".XnViewSort" files everywhere..

Bump.
I thought this was added in the new version, but I couldn't find any option about it.

yes, you can add in your .ini in [Browser] section

Code: Select all

allowCustomOrder=false
