Area outside a selection darkened

In XnView MP the area outside a selection is darkened, unlike in XnView Classic:

The desirability of darkening the area outside a selection has been long discussed, but wasn't an option introduced within the last few years to make the action similar to that in XnView Classic? I'd love to find one...

you need to add hidden setting highlightSelection=false in [Viewer] section

Thanks, it works!
Could that option possibly be added to
Settings > View -- View tab please, would also provide compatibility with XnView Classic...

Could you please tell me if there is another
hidden option to hide the 3x3 grid within the 'MP selection rectangle?
Personally, I've always been very happy with the simple selection rectangle in XnView Classic...
And it would be great - when you have time - if both darkening the area outside a selection and the grid within a selection could be added as options in the
Settings > View -- View tab

This problem is supposed to be fixed in
XnView MP 0.87. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.

This doesn't seem to work, selection highlighted irrespective of the View setting, no setting in the ini even when program closed... ??
[Edit: I see that the View tab - Auto play [video] setting is not present in 0.87 beta1...]

Do you close and re-open the view?

Do you close and re-open the view?
O.K. takes effect only after closing and then reopening the displayed image (?)
Expected behaviour not anticipated...
But the setting is lost when XnView MP is closed, setting not written to the ini file??

right will be fixed in beta 2
