How to stop directory change?

Using XnView MP 0.87 64-bit on Win7 Pro SP1 64-bit.
I hope I can describe this well...
I use either the search function or the recurse all files function, to get a list of images showing in the right hand pane. I double-click one of the images and it opens in a new tab as a single image, where I can zoom in, save it, crop it, etc. So far so good.
When I switch back to the original tab where my searched/recursed images were shown, they are not there. The view was changed to show only the images from the directory where the single image is stored, the one I clicked on to view.
How can I preserve the original image list? I have to repeatedly re-run search or recursive function, to get back my original image list.
