Since version 0.87 sequential viewing CR2 files in a folder became very slow. I use PgDn to going on next file, sometimes PgUp to return to previous. Version 0.87 switch to next/previous file very slow, even became unresponsible on fast PgDn-PgDn-PgDn-PgUp-PgUp-PgUp sequence.
Returned to version 0.86 - it works fast.

I have same issue on all my PCs - two desktop and laptop. All running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS with current updates.
For viewing camera raw files embedded preview is used.

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 0.88. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.
