Convert .jxr to .hdr

Trying to convert a Microsoft Image Composite Editor JPEG XR (jxr) format file to HDR. I tried using convert to 32 bit, and leaving no conversion options, and I always get 6 files - image1red.flt (filter file) image1_red.hdr (alpha file?), image1blue.flt, image1_blue.hdr, image1green.flt, image1_green.hdr.
Can anyone explain how to get one HDR file, or how to combine the .flt and .hdr files into one HDR file. I'd prefer not to bring it into Photoshop (though if that's the only way I'll do it); was wanting to open directly in Photomatix Pro. I'm obviously not understanding something. I've also tried RAW, but Photoshop doesn't recognize it, and TIF, but it turns out to be 8 bit, and RAD, but it isn't recognized either. I'd like a 32 bit file to make an HDRi. JXR is pretty Microsoft-centric, but it has lots of color information.
Thanks,
Tom
