Startup speed improvements

I have quite a high-end Windows 10 x64 system, but typical startup speed for XnView MP 0.90 (x64) is quite slow, when launching as part of a file open. This observation is made in comparison to some other image viewers, which I will not name unless requested.
I understand that some of the really fast image viewers don't have the baggage that XnView MP does, but I'm hoping that something can be done to improve startup performance, as I'd prefer to avoid using a separate application just to view images.
Please note that this suggestion is made respectfully and without expectation.

If the browser is already running, then opening an image is very fast. It just tends to take a few seconds when xnviewmp.exe is not running at all. (I think I understood your question correctly.)

so XnView is slow only when starting with a file (from OS file browser)?

Yes, that is correct.

when starting XnView in browser mode no delay? which format (jpeg)? do you have a lot of files in the folder? only image files in this folder?

No delay when starting from the browser. I just tested with a folder having ~3,700 JPG files and nothing else.
It's the same with other image file types and folders, though. Startup speed is not terrible, but much slower than some other viewers.

which delay do you have when opening a file?

Do you mean how long is the delay? It's about two seconds. Again, I know it's not terrible, but as many images as I open, it's a little annoying. And some viewers open the same files in about 1/4 second.
The delay does not vary much by file size. Tiny image files don't load much, if any, faster than relatively large image files. This tells me it's other overhead and not the reading of the file causing the delay.

yes not normal. do you have a lot of files in this folder? could you try to open an image from a folder with only this file?

I just chose a test file randomly. I see no noticeable difference in loading speed whether the test file is alone in a directory or if it is in the original directory with ~3,700 other files.

The same performance occurs with any file, so this one is not special, but I've attached it here anyway.

That setting is set to "Normal".
