Windows 10 File Associations Not Working

Hi,

I have installed XnView installed on Windows 10 (edition Pro, version 1709, build 16299.371). I want to set the file associations as "The most used" like I had set on Windows 7.

Running XnView as administrator I go into: Tools -> Options -> System integration -> Associations

The options "The most used", "Add all", "Restore all" are all greyed out . Only "Windows file associations" button can be clicked and when clicked it says "To change your default apps, go to Settings > Apps > Default apps"

So I go to Settings -> Apps -> Default apps. Under "Set defaults by app" I can see XnView but:
  • There are much less file associations possible here than inside the XnView app (as a random examples: .apng does not exist for PNGs, .pic does not exist - they are both in the "The most used" list in XnView)
  • There is no way to select "The most used" which it what I want
Even by going to Settings -> Apps -> Default apps -> Choose default apps by file type: some of the XnView extensions are not listed (as a random examples: .apng does not exist for PNGs).

Do I really have to associate each extension manually for "The most used" one by one by creating a file with that extension and then right clicking, open with, etc. There are at least 50 file extensions in the "The most used" list!!!

Thanks for any help!

Win 10 has been major-updated last week, so maybe there some issues would take place specifically
