I'm not sure if this feature would be possible since it's related to a plug-in, but it'd be a convenient feature -- after my phone switched to .HEIC instead of .JPG files for photos, the "Date/Time Original" information from ExifTool is the only way for me to know when a picture was actually taken. Right now I can view .HEIC files in XnView MP (using the plugin), but the "EXIF Date" column is empty, and I have to click on Info->ExitTool->[scroll down to EXIF section] in order to get this information, picture by picture, which is rather slow.

I found this topic and I am on the search for a renaming tool that can handle HEIC format with the Exif Date.
Any news on this topic? Its from Nov. 2018, maybe there are new options planed?

Why can Windows read that column with exif date but the renamers not ?

Currently, batch rename works with Modified Date but not with Date Taken.
Are there any news regarding the topic?

I wanted to use XNView MP on HEIC files, and noticed that the grid view doesn't show the EXIF data as for JPG files. What a pity, it would be such a great and easy tool if it would support that.

Do you have tried 0.97.1?

Hello, to rename HEIC files you can do it with EXIFRENAMER or TRANSNOMINO, two very effective programs to rename in batches, but they do not have other capabilities that XNVIEW has.
