0.93 No gif thumbnails on Debian Linux

I don't have thumbnails for gif files in explorer. (Oddly there are thumbnails for gifs on the icon of a folder containing gifs.)
OS: Debian 9 (Stretch)

if you click on the gif, you have the preview?

Yes, previews do work. (Very occasionally not when switching from a playing animation to another gif, but that's a different issue.)

Things got fixed. Having Xnview create a new ini file did it. (Probably something was weird in the ini created by an older Xnview.)
