Change directory in viewing mode ...

I have my images seperated in subfolders per holiday and I am often viewing my images in fullscreen, going forth and back through my image list with the cursor keys.
Now it often happens that I want to swap into the next subfolder to see the next set of pictures. I have to leave the viewer, change the directory and start the viewer again. A <next directory>/<previous directory>-key (probably a cursor combined with a mode key) would be great for me

I support !

Hello !
- Anyway, Next/Previous dir. commands are missing and could be useful !
- However, I would like them also as buttons in a tool-bar, 'cause I cant use the keyboard intensively (for physical reasons).

Unfortunately, it isn't possible (pratically) to add buttons currently, like this is explained in the "Example" paragraph
there.
ยค Hence, I voted "In favour", even whether I will be bound to wait for an extra / enhanced tool bar

Kind regards,
Claude

Perhaps an option at the end of file list to ask if you want to browse subfolder?

That's not bad, but I also often want to change the subfolder when I am in the middle of my filelist, after I feel that the images of the current folder are too boring.

So a hotkey or menu item to call a dialog box to change current folder?

That would be nice. It sounds faster than my favorite key sequence, which currently is:
Return (change to browser)
Shift-Tab (set focus to folder tree)
Down (change folder)
Tab, Tab (set focus back to directory view)
Down (select first image)
Return (restart the viewer)
Otherwise I already know it by heart ...

What about an option to actually show Folders and Parent folder ("..") directly in the Viewer to allow navigation?
(you wouldn't need to switch to Browser, and folders would be only a "home" key away...)
Olivier
PS: it has already been suggested in another thread, but more feedback would be interesting here...

"Next folder" similar to "Next file" and "Next page". Thats a good solution. I would appreciate that button in my toolbar. (The next thing would be to have configurable Hot-Keys for the toolbar buttons in fullscreen mode

)

Show it in the same way as for 'Thumbnail view' +Name
(cf large Folder Icon which show images, or only generic Icons).

You may be happier with a prog designed for the express purpose of viewing images in sequence. There are many such progs, and many of them can even read zip and rar archives of images as though they were folders.
http://www.geocities.com/davidayton/CDisplay
http://www.oma-penny.com/software.php
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/comi ... p?download
http://english.fbsoft.org/index.php?rub ... chargement
http://mangariini.skizzers.org
The ones above are for windows (although some also have *nix and/or mac versions available), this site has a list of ones for *nix/mac
http://sketchyorigins.com/comics/showthread.php?t=8526
These ones can run one almost any system, but require additional downloads such as python or GTK:
http://comix.sourceforge.net/
http://borco.net/html/PyComicsViewer/
These progs are designed primarily for reading scans of comic books or magazines, but work well for any set of images.

Thanx for the nice collection. I tried a few of them and found some interesting implementations. I am actually not a comic fan, but I was wondering, why I could not find a "Next Chapter" button in those readers that I tried

. So I was back at the beginning and I actually don't want to replace XnView

The problem is that you need to go to - previous, next, parent and sub - folder, you can't control it all with only two buttons/hotkeys prev./next folder. Therefore...

I
strongly support this solution!
(Parent folder ("..") could be first and also last item)
Another suggestion - more folders could be shown for better orientation, like this:
[folder1] [folder2] [folder3 (actual)] [folder4] [folder5]
