Make histogram and info overlays stay on in viewer

Hi, I've been so glad to have found this software, it's helped my photography workflow immensely and I really appreciate your hard work.
One thing that has been driving me nuts though is that my workflow involves constant opening/closing of multiple tabs for comparisons, and that the always-critical info and histogram overlays will not stay on, which means pressing H and I a thousand times a day.
I've read through a few threads from years ago on this forum, as far as I can see there's no solution, but the associated bug report page has it listed as solved: https://www.xnview.com/mantisbt/view.php?id=1063. Apparently it's supposed to write the histo/info state into the settings .ini, but it is written back to default for some reason when a tab is closed?
Sometimes it will stay on when closing one tab and then opening one tab (seemingly random), but for any beyond the first it must always be re-enabled.
This is a pretty aggravating annoyance, but if this issue could be fixed, for me it would make this program go from great to perfect. Thanks again for all your work.
