Sort photos by the "Date modified" EXIF tag?

Hello,
It seems to me that photos can only be sorted by date using the file dates or the "Date taken" EXIF tag; however, most of my photos only have the "Date modified" EXIF tag.
Is there any solution to sort photos by the "Date modified" EXIF tag?
I'm aware that an alternative would be to create the "Date taken" EXIF tag by using the "Change timestamp..." tool.
But this would take a long time with the amount of photos that would need to be processed.
Maybe an option to either have the "Date modified" EXIF tag as a sorting column or a priority list for which EXIF date tags to use if one is not available would be useful.

0x0132 DateTime ascii string 20 Date/Time of image was last modified. Data format is "YYYY:MM:DD HH:MM:SS"+0x00, total 20bytes. In usual, it has the same value of DateTimeOriginal(0x9003)
