XnViewMP software error when saving to PDF [Bug]

Scan through XnViewMP -> Save PDF
Each PDF file individually opens.
But any manipulation of these files (combine files or insert a PDF page from another file), then the error “Invalid font object or font description object”.
There are several errors in the structure of the PDF file.

Files scanned by XnViewMP and saved in PDF format:
XnViewMP1.pdf
XnViewMP2.pdf
These are bad files.

Files scanned by FineReader and saved in PDF format:
FR1.pdf
FR2.pdf
These are good files.

If you are not using the latest version of XnView MP 0.93 (currently 0.93.1), please try again with 0.93.1 or any later version when released.

It was discovered last year that PDF files created by XnView software displayed in the file properties two fonts, when there were in fact no embedded fonts: Saving to pdf file - without font shown in file Properties .

One of your PDFs created using XnView when opened in Acrobat XI hung when I tried to view the fonts in the file properties, so the issue fixed in the latest XnView version is possibly the explanation for the issue you have experienced. :?:

Hi, Pierre/.

These PDF files contain several different errors, that Acrobat cannot handle.
One of the errors is the absence of the “%” sign in the file header:
there is '% PDF-1.4 '
should be '% PDF-1.4 %'

The absence of FONT in the file is not a problem.
FONTs should not be in the file, since the file contains only the image.
PROBLEM:
Why does Acrobat display an ERROR?
This is a mistake of the developers of XnViewMP (and XnView).

The PDF file properties in 0.93 now show no embedded fonts, which as you say is correct as the file is an image and there are none.

But are there other PDF file errors that you have identified?

This error was written to me on another forum.
I do not understand the structure of PDF files.
I believe that the developer of XnView software (and XnViewMP) should understand the file structure.
If necessary, I can turn to that forum with a request to indicate ALL errors found in the structure of PDF files.

I've tried with Acrobat, but no error. Which errors do you have with Acrobat?

Look at the file header of a bad file
https://i.imgur.com/HE28bhs.png
The same file header, corrected by another program
https://i.imgur.com/A9WUUYb.png

PDF/A Manager from pdftron shows a few more errors, but some of them belong to the standard PDF/A:
- e_PDFA11: Corrupt document
- e_PDFA122: File header line not followed by % and 4 characters > 127
- e_PDFA131: The trailer dictionary does not contain ID
- e_PDFA173: The value of Length does not match the number of bytes
Obj Refs:5
- e_PDFA721: The document catalog does not contain Metadata stream
Obj Refs:2
- e_PDFA2331: Device-specific color space used, but no GTS_PDFA1 OutputIntent
Obj Refs:4

XnView software doesn't convert to the PDF/A standard so only non-PDF/A errors are relevant, if you could ensure those are clearly identified please... :D

Here is another proof of the PDF conversion error:

- open the PNG file (for example, downloaded A9WUUYb.png) with the XnViewMP program
- save it as a PDF
- Open the PDF file with Acrobat

(I have an error:
“An error occurred while processing the page. An error occurred while reading the document (14) »
)

1) I downloaded from the links (given above) 2 files: A9WUUYb.png and HE28bhs.png
2) I make various transformations by your program:

2a) open PNG --> save PDF
Get:
A9WUUYb=(PNG--PDF)=No_open.pdf
HE28bhs=(PNG--PDF)=No_open.pdf

(Acrobat does not open this files).

2b) open PNG --> save GIF open GIF --> save PDF
Get:
A9WUUYb=PNG--GIF--PDF.pdf

2с) open PNG --> save JPG open JPG --> save PDF
Get:
A9WUUYb=PNG--JPG--PDF.pdf

Files A9WUUYb=PNG--GIF--PDF.pdf and A9WUUYb=PNG--JPG--PDF.pdf are opened by Acrobat, but it is still impossible to combine them into one file.

Ok, it seems that the problem comes with 32bits image. Remove alpha channel or convert or 24bits before to save in PDF
