Editing of XMP sidecar files also for 'readonly' formats

First of all, thanks for this awesome program!

I need to manage the metadata of images in several formats: PNG, GIF, JPG, but also SVG. The metadata is always written to and read from XMP sidecar files, never from the image itself.

Now SVG is readonly for XnViewMP, which is no problem for my workflow. But this makes the XMP sidecar file also readonly. It would improve my workflow a lot if I could set tags in the metadata also for SVG. The SVG file itself does not need to be changed.

Best- DerRuhri

I would also like to see such a feature, so I can store attribution information for all my media.

Meanwhile, acceptance and usage of SVG grows by leaps and bounds
Nowadays, more than half of all web sites use SVG, i.e. more than 1billion web sites

These digiKam settings look quite reasonable to me:

Yes, Digikam had this issue in earlier versions, too. However, it really made up ground in the latest versions. Digikam 7.7.0 excels in this regard, which is why I switched to it.
I don't want to play these two programs off against each other. Besides, they have a slightly different focus. Both are free (XnView at least for private usage), both have great features. XnView e.g. has a much smaller HD footprint on Windows and can read good old descript.ion files - so I'd love to come back ;-)
