I can play an MOV file in XNView, but if I put one in a slide show, I get an error message that the file type is not recognized. Can I use an MOV file in a slideshow - and if so, can I center it in the screen?

The most likely is that you go to need a directshow codec for recent movs, you can find the best fix downloading the Quick Time Alternative because it has the directshow codec and all the needed dlls.

I just loaded quicktime and tried again. Now it simply skips over the .mov file entirely, no error message, no delay, it simply ignores it.

I have said Quick Time Alternative, no standard Apple Quick Time, the 1st allows to play any mov file on any standard windows media player or with XnView. You can get it from http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail.ph ... 1049831315

For all I know, in XnView <=1.68.1 videos in slide shows are not supported at all.
Aokromes: Do you disagree or confirm?

If you choose "all files" you can add videos :)

Sure. But are the videos shown and played during the slide show?

Helmut, et al
As noted in my post Center AVI files in slideshow, I can play an AVI in a slideshow, but it goes into the upper left corner. For my purposes, I need it centered. The video that is causing all the fuss here is in MOV format. I have a version converted to AVI, so I could use that if I solve the placement issue, but there is a noticeable degradation of the video in the converted version, so I would prefer to use the MOV if possible.

I can also consider other formats, if you have suggestions.
