I REALLY love this program :D , my go-to for all picture edits. I am using latest version Linux Mint (I abhor Windows  ), just downloaded MP version 0.96, and discovered a bug ( :bugfixed:? ).

Upon editing a picture, one has the ability to apply filters (blurring, sharpen, noise reduction, etc). For example, I would select a picture, and notice plenty of "noise." I would highlight or "square off" that section, and apply a particular filter to the resultant "portion." But the program applies or reduces noise (or other filtering) to the ENTIRE picture (both internal and external to the square).

This also happens if I want to superimpose another picture-into-a-picture (let's say I want to add a tree onto the edge of a beach). I would add a square for where the new tree would land, borrow the tree from another pic file (cut/paste)-- linear edging of the new pic frame thus becomes obvious. In order to "soften" this edging, I would highlight its linear edges (one at a time), and then apply the "soften" filter to blend the edge into the natural surroundings of the beach. But alas, this results in the ENTIRE picture being "softened" (or filtered), both INSIDE and OUTSIDE the square--not just the desired edges of the square..

This has happened in prior versions of this software, although not as pronounced as this update, but did it in tiny increments before...

Filtering can only be reverted back 4x--losing ALL prior edits from inception

The program also locks up beyond 10 attempts at edits, (one has to constantly remember to save edits as one progresses through the program).

It basically renders editing for some filters (not all) useless. :(

I have highly recommended this program to others...it is STILL the best photo editor out there

Thank you for your efforts!! :D

:bugconfirmed: Thanks to your detailed description I can reproduce, 'Filter' should use the selected area
Only some of them works
