0.96.2 - issue creating new category by way of textfield

Hello,
The more straightforward way to create a category fully set should probably be by way of the textfield because the user is driven directly to the properties dialog. But things are not working as expected ...
1. Categories pane local menu > Action > Assign category.
2. In the Categories pane textfield type the name of a category not present in the catalog then left-click on "category_name [Create new]" : the properties dialog opens.
3. Issue : the "parent" drop-down menu doesn't work. The selected category is never taken into account.. (Please note that the properties dialog works as expected with the "Edit..." command).
