How to avoid thumbnail refreshing? Or wish: advanced caching. (DNG)

Hi,
I have a directory where the DNG files of my panorama camera are saved. The files sizes are around 700MB or higher. If I come back to this directory and there are new files added to this directory, than the whole directory is scanned again and all previous created thumbnails are gone. The refresh process of the large files is horrible slow. Is there a way how I could handle the situation per current build? Can I speed up the DNG thumbnail creation by an other setup?
Best would be if XnViewMP could refresh thumbnails only if the date of the files are changed or files are fresh created. At the moment I don't how to work with this DNG directory and XnView.
