Solved: Problem with great big huge folder

I bought XnView MP to replace Adobe Bridge. I wanted to be able to categorize my 3000+ vectors to make my projects run more smoothly.
Anyway, I began categorizing off and on for a few months, then realized that I had been categorizing two different folders. So I combined the two folders by copying them both to a new folder - through XnView, so the categories would be preserved.
So I have a folder with 3000+ images, ready for further categorizing. I now have most of my vectors all in one place.
I opened up the folder to begin work. XnView loaded up to 75% and then crashed. I rebooted the computer and tried again. Same result. I tried again, and this time moved through the folder, selecting the thumbnails of various images, hoping to fool the program into completing the load. I got up to 94%, and then it crashed again.
So my question is this, is my folder too big (3800 files, totalling some 19.6 gig), is some XnView file corrupted from moving the files, or some other thing at work? The drive has 233 gig left, so that's not the problem. Ideas?
