Change zoom step size?

Version 0.96.5 64bits (Aug 17 2020)
Currently when using the mouse wheel for zooming, after 100%, the increment jumps to 142% and then increasingly higher at each next level.
This makes it difficult to render some bitmaps that are of less quality.
For example, at 100% the text is to small to read but at 142% the text is too large and ragged
Is it possible to make the zoom increment smaller and persistent?
