By the time I add several files to my different folders.
When running XnViewMP I would like to know which and where
all this uncategorized files are.
But showing the uncategorized items they are not shown.
Only if I go to all the (dozens) of folders XnViewMP notices them.
This is really bad.
Is there a one-click-update?

Yes, I know that.

But browsing all files/ in all folders is NOT the typical usage.

Typical the many different folders are populated with files
by the explorer etc.
After some time I would like which new files have been added
in all the folders.
But MP only updates the "uncategorized" if I go - as you said -
to every single folders (that may be dozens, hundreds).
This is unusable.

So my suggestion (as in my suggestion thread):

Have a one-click for that.

So you can use settings>catalog>add folder

You still misunderstand me.

It is not about adding folders.

There are dozens/ hundreds of (sub-) folders added in MP already.

What I need to know:

Which files are "uncategorized" in all of them.
(So I can categorize them.
To be able to find them by categorize later.)

Without having to browse to every single folder,
which is not possible when they are a lot.

Please read my description carefully.

Sorry but i don't understand, do you want to search for uncategorized files in catalog?

It's most simple:

I want all files that haven't been identified as "uncategorized" yet
(spreaded in all the hundreds of folders)
to be categorized in the special category "uncategorized"
WITHOUT having to go all the folders.

Maybe you should translate the above to French?

if you want to have files in 'uncategorized' category, files need to be added in catalog, so the only solution is to add them with Settings>Add folder

0) Go to Settings, metadata and check if the correct options are selected
1) in "View" menu , click on "View files in subfolders"
2) Select "Categories Filter" tab, (Check in "Match" header if correct options are set such as recursive or global) and Select "Special items, Uncategorized"
3) (wait a while) Select all files
4) Give them a category
5) Unselect files (wait for metadata to be written)
6) Select a photo and check for xmp or iptc metadata in info pane ....

But if "Special items, Uncategorized" showed 0 files, you should first build xnviewmp database by adding root folder with "settings, catalog, Add folder"
That's the reason for Pierre' s answers

I am talking about folders that are ALREADY added.
(I have dozens of them).

I want to know which files in all those folders are not categorized yet
WITHOUT having to browse to every single folder.
